Beyond Carnism

We don’t help people see different things. We help them see the same things, differently.

We don’t help people see different things. We help them see the same things, differently.

Beyond Carnism
Beyond Carnism
Dedicated to exposing and transforming carnism

Headquarters:
Orlando, Florida, USA

Why

Animal agriculture causes extensive harm to animals, humans, and the environment. As the only organization focusing on the roots of the problem — the psychology that drives people to support, rather than oppose, animal agriculture — Beyond Carnism is filling a critical niche in the animal advocacy movement.

And, through our Center for Effective Vegan Advocacy, we’re helping to build a more impactful, resilient, and powerful global vegan movement.

Profile

Beyond Carnism is a US-based, international organization dedicated to exposing and transforming carnism, the invisible belief system that conditions people to eat certain animals.

We believe that meaningful social change requires a two-pronged strategic approach, which entails weakening the oppressive system (carnism) and strengthening the system that challenges it (veganism). For this reason, all our programs are designed to decrease the power of carnism and increase the power of veganism, through awareness-raising and training.

We create innovative video campaigns about carnism (which have won awards and gone viral), and, through our Center for Effective Vegan Advocacy, we work to increase the impact of vegan advocacy worldwide and create a more unified and resilient vegan movement. We provide on-site and online trainings, organizational consulting, and leadership support at low to no cost, by highly experienced trainers.

Million Dollar Vegan

Killing animals is killing us, too. Take pandemics of the menu.

Killing animals is killing us, too. Take pandemics of the menu.

Fight Climate Change
With Diet Change

Headquarters:
London, England, UK

We are proud to support the Million Dollar Vegan campaign, and its efforts to encourage Pope Francis to try adopting a vegan diet for Lent.

This campaign supports our own aim of educating people and organizations about the impacts of animal farming, and empowering them to make kinder and more conscious food choices. It also supports our goal of bringing together activists from around the world to create positive and lasting systemic change toward an animal-free global food system.

The Million Dollar Vegan campaign shares our values in that it promotes plant-based eating as a means of tackling the global problems of world hunger, lifestyle diseases, climate change and the fair treatment of animals. We hope Pope Francis will commit to going vegan for Lent, and help to raise awareness of the problems caused by animal agriculture. We urgently need more world leaders like him, to embrace positive dietary change to better protect people, animals and our planet into the future.

As part of our support, we are offering $1 million to a charity (or charities) of the Pope’s choice, should he agree to go vegan for Lent—and encourage others to do the same. Following the period of Lent and at the Pope’s request, we will be delighted to honour our charitable gift.

Why

Million Dollar Vegan is a campaign seeking to raise awareness of some of the world’s most pressing issues, and to tackle them by engaging with world leaders, institutions and individuals, and inspiring positive dietary change. We aim to inspire people to make more conscious, sustainable and benevolent choices, to turn their attention to the abundance of plant-based foods available to them, and to adopt a plant-based diet.

Profile

Million Dollar Vegan was launched in February 2019, with the first campaign designed to encourage the Pope – and others – to try vegan for Lent. Climate change, species loss, antibiotic resistance, deforestation, animal suffering and human diseases connected to dietary choices are devastating global issues that require immediate action. For the sake of the planet, people and animals, Million Dollar Vegan is working to effect change on a global level. To that end, it has staff in 15 countries: USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Australia, India, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and the UK.

Eating Our Way to Extinction

Eating Our Way to Extinction. When Food Costs the Earth, We All Pay the Price.

Eating Our Way to Extinction
A film that hungers to change the world

Headquarters:
London, UK

Why

Raising public awareness. While changing the food and agriculture industry at its source and investing in innovative new food ventures is crucial, educating future consumers about what’s at stake for the survival on our planet is pivotal. It is of vital importance that all of us understand the true consequences of our food choices.

Profile

Eating Our Way to Extinction is a feature-length documentary film that describes the necessary movement towards a plant-based lifestyle from a big-picture perspective, while taking into account the complex situation we find ourselves in. Even though there are many films that tackle individual aspects of the movement, the brothers and co-directors Ludo and Otto Brockway seek to present all aspects of the plant-based lifestyle movement, including interviews with celebrities and scientists, as well as ordinary people. The documentary shows the strength of the movement globally and the power of people to change; it exposes the economic inefficiencies in the global meat market; it presents groundbreaking research into the profound intellectual capabilities of animals as well as the myriad benefits of a plant-based lifestyle.

Farm Transformers
Change at the source

Headquarters:
Los Angeles/CA, USA

Why

It was time to take action. After investing in many ventures founded by incredibly innovative people and promising entrepreneurs, the Blue Horizon International Foundation decided to start an initiative ourselves: An endeavor that focuses on the source of food and will help to shape the sustainable agriculture of the future.

Profile

The Blue Horizon International Foundation is actively growing a community that seeks to support the transformation of farms from animal factory farming to sustainable plant cultivation—while sharing educational resources regarding sustainable food and agriculture. We recognize that animal farms are part of a global problem that adversely affects our climate and our health, while simultaneously ignoring the principles of animal welfare. Therefore, we have created an alternative model that provides sustainable solutions.
